Art
I’ve always been drawn to art and creation. Colors, landscapes, animals, faces – all things inspire me. I’ve considered myself as an artist for my entire life. Most of my illustrations are mixed-medium; they typically start out as paper sketches, then I turn them into raster-style images through my favorite art software, Paint Tool SAI and Photoshop.
I taught myself how to draw through years of observing the world around me. This process, unintentionally, caused me to be detail-oriented and thorough in everything that I do.
Art taught me the importance of beauty, which is ultimately why I fell in love with science. Science is art; art is science.
Photography
Anything and everything inspires my art, but my favorite photography subjects are animals, landscapes, and nature. I’m constantly snapping photos, but my favorite shots are from whenever I had an opportunity to capture a brand new subject.
Photography is a challenge; moving subjects need to cooperate just right, the lighting has to be perfect, the camera settings need to be changed on the fly, and editing raw photos requires an entirely different set of skills.
Most of my photos are taken with a Sony A6400 camera, however I also enjoy the effects of CMD sensors from older digital cameras. I love using my Panasonic Lumix LX5 and Fujifilm x100.
