Prior to my college education, I worked in the service industry for over 9 years. My diverse experiences- ranging from being an illustrator, nail tech, and hairstylist to a bartender, server, and data analysist- have all given me a unique perspective on the world. As a creative, I was able to see the patterns between industries to understand, overall, how complex business operations truly are.

Before I made the decision to study science, I obtained an associate’s degree in business administration. Both of these subjects are deeply interesting to me; my passion lies at the intersection of sustainable business practices and environmental justice. 

Whether the goal is to turn just enough of a profit to keep food on the table, or to generate endlessly higher profits to appease upper management, I understand why sustainability tends to feel like more of an obstacle than an end goal.

Ultimately, my experiences have driven me to one major conclusion: Sustainability is nuanced. It’s a game that I’m well-equipped to play.

I am passionate about creating innovative solutions that respect the environment, without diminishing businesses’ missions and goals.
